Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Raleigh, NC

There has been a lot of change going on at HTGOC lately!

First of all, we want to thank Elia Nicholas for his selfless years of service and dedication to building this choir up.  He has left behind some very, very big shoes to fill.  we also want to thank Dena Byers for stepping in as interim director and keeping everything running smoothly during this transitional period!

We have welcomed Chelsea Waddelow, the new music minister at Holy Trinity (Raleigh, NC) with open arms.  She is a board-certified music therapist during the week and specializes in working with children and teens with special needs.  On Sundays, you can find her in the choir loft, working with a wonderful group of people to help "build the musical temple" for the worship of our congregation.  She is brand new to the Orthodox church, and is having a wonderful experience learning more about the faith and the music we sing.  She served as interim organist from August-December 2016 to get a feel for things, and has jumped right in starting January.

In spite of all the changes, our choir has kept up their engagement with the community throughout this period of transition.  Our choir members were very actively involved in helping with the Greek Festival this September, serving on the organizing committees, working the t-shirt booth, and feeding a lot of hungry people!  Over the Christmas season, we went caroling as a group and brought the joy of the season to homebound members of the local community.  In the near future, the choir will be making an appearance at the Glendi and Talent Show; we don't want to spoil the surprise, but it's going to make everybody laugh!

The most exciting project we are up to these days is preparing for the Clergy/Laity and Choir Conference this summer!  As the host community, we are excited to have the opportunity to help bring these two conferences into one enriching, fulfilling, and renewing community gathering.  We are hoping for record attendance at what is going to be a brand new experience for all of us as we blend these two events.  We all look forward to seeing you there!
